About Me

Licensed Professional Counselor / Licensed Addiction Counselor

My therapeutic style wants you to feel seen and understood above all else.  Common therapeutic goals include being able to feel your self-worth in addition to knowing it in your head; naming, understanding, and honoring your needs; and nurturing all the parts of yourself (physical, emotional, intellectual). I often use strategies suggested by polyvagal theory, which pays attention to your nervous system states and how they affect the way you feel and behave; and the internal family systems model, which helps different parts that are in conflict within yourself to feel acknowledged, healed, and reharmonized. In couples and family counseling, my approach is influenced by the Gottman method and emotionally-focused strategies. A lot of my work is in complex and developmental trauma, relationship injuries, and addiction issues.

With lived experience with neurodiversity, I have special interest in working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD, whether they are officially diagnosed or not.  I have a certification as an Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor who has been practicing in the Montrose, Colorado area since 2018.  I have an MA in Clinical Psychology from The University of Alabama. My graduate education and training in assessments and diagnostics give me a deeper perspective on possible mechanisms behind behavioral difficulties.

Born in Taiwan, I grew up around the world in Far East Asia, Middle East, and South America, with a total of 22 years in developing countries. Having spent 12 of those 22 years in South America (Peru and Paraguay), I am familiar with Latinx culture.  I know what it’s like to live in different cultures, economic circumstances, and political realities. Aside from English, I speak Spanish and Mandarin.

Fresh out of graduate school, I spent two years working exclusively with Vietnam veterans and their families. This experience has given me a profound appreciation for the strengths and needs of our veteran community. Working with military-connected clients has been a passion for me since then. I have completed multiple training sessions by The Center for Deployment Psychology to work with veterans and active service personnel.

Of all the places I’ve lived, I have felt most at home in the Four Corners region. Living in Colorado is a dream come true for me. My hobbies include mountain biking and film music.

I look forward to hearing your story.
